International Mold Steel

Daido DCMX die steel. Pre-hardened 59-61 HRC. Stocked through IMS.

Your dies can hold up to the AHSS you stamp.

AHSS sheet is harder on dies than conventional sheet. Higher forces on the die. Harder material to cut. Less room for a die steel that only does one thing well. Cold work die steels optimized for wear or toughness alone are showing the gap in chipping, early die failure, and regrind cycles that shouldn’t be on the schedule.

DCMX is engineered for exactly this demand. On Daido’s toughness-vs-wear-resistance chart, DCMX reaches a toughness level D2 and DC53 cannot match while holding strong wear resistance. In a side-by-side blanking-die test against D2 and an 8% chrome grade, DCMX held its cutting edge through 1.5 million uncoated hits. That’s a different position on the chart, and you see it at the die edge.

Key Benefits

What IMS and DCMX Bring to Your Toolroom

• DCMX matrix-type cold work die steel — engineered for stamping AHSS, where toughness and wear resistance both have to hold.

• Pre-hardened at 59-61 HRC — ready to machine, no heat treat cycle between order and run.

• Stocked through IMS — 1.00″, 2.00″, and 3.00″ thicknesses at 5″ × 7″ (+.004 / -.000).

• 35+ technical specialists on application engineering — die steel selected for your application, not pulled from general inventory.

• Exclusive Daido partnership, Fortune 500 track record — GM, Ford, Boeing, Apple, and GE among them.
